Recognizing the labor intensity of current domestic Chinese chive harvesting and need for its mechanized harvesting, a self-propelled electric harvester is designed. The machine composed control system, supporting mechanism, cutting parts, conveying clamping mechanisms, frame, collection system. It can complete feeding, cutting, transmission, binning operations at one time. has width 0.25 m wheelbases 260 mm 460 mm. Two 12 V, 42 Ah lead-acid batteries were used in series as power supply. mechanical properties analyzed, shear compression tests carried out to determine that average value maximum force on chives 129 N. Up compressive 225 N, are not damaged. According physical characteristics requirements operations, design calculation key components harvester's transmission mechanism strength whole frame completed. An embedded system Cortex-M3 microprocessor realize functions rolling while regulating speed protecting motor. Using Box-Behnken test method, machine's operating speed, cutter height selected influencing factors, lodging rate loss evaluated test. A mathematical regression model factors evaluation indexes was established analyze influence these optimize parameters. optimal parameter combination determined be: 1.1 km/h; 220 r/min; 2.0 cm. parameters verified from field results showed under optimized combination, 3.96% 3.23%, indicating meets agronomic harvesting. This could be modified harvest other crops such chrysanthemums Mongolian chive.
